First Welcome Evening 2014

Posted: Jun 20 2014

Last week we held the first of our monthly Welcome Evenings for SANZA teachers who’ve made the move from Australia, Canada or New Zealand.  Hosted by Erin Horman, responsible for SANZA’s overseas teachers wanting to work in the UK and guest visitors from events company, Britbound and travel company, Topdeck.

Erin was first up presenting the differences of teaching in London, from Ofsted inspections and gaining QTS to education acronyms (pertaining to the UK such as NQT and SAT’s) and the benefits of daily supply vs. long-term placements.

Next up was Britbound who talked about their upcoming events in London from boat parties and pub crawls to theatre trips and historic tours. All SANZA teachers become ‘Britbounders’ when registering with SANZA entitling them to generous discounts!

Lastly, Kate from Topdeck talked about the fantastic array of worldwide trips. The school holidays certainly won't be quiet, from festivals to sailing trips! Importantly, SANZA teachers receive discountson all travel packages!

It was a great evening, helped by a few chilled ciders. We hope that all attendees took away some valuable information and insight into what they can expect from their experience living and working in London.
