The summer has arrived and if you’ve moved to London to teach, you must be looking forward to the chance to explore the city, the UK and Europe. Being new to teaching and living in London, you may not know exactly what our vibrant Capital has to offer. Here are a few suggestions of exciting events this summer.

You can join in Europe’s biggest street party this August with the multicultural delight of Notting Hill Carnival. A two day festival on the second bank holiday weekend of August celebrating London’s Afro-Caribbean culture past and present. Join in the dancing and calypso music and taste the delights of West Indian cuisine.

If you haven’t yet had the experience of London’s West End, you could start by catching the smash hit show ‘Book of Mormon’ at The Prince of Wales Theatre. Not for the faint hearted and reputedly taking audiences by storm, see for yourselves why it has been so successful whilst experiencing a quintessential part of London culture. Events company BritBound are offering amazing rates for this show on Wednesday 10th September. For more info, contact and remember, all SANZA teachers receive preferential rates!

A little further afield in Glasgow, Scotland, we have The Commonwealth Games beginning with the opening ceremony tonight, 23rd July with events running until the 3rd of August. The Commonwealth Games will showcase world class sporting talent but also offer an electric atmosphere and sense of community as countries of the commonwealth come together. Australia has been the top placed team for a consecutive six games!

You could take the opportunity to see more of Europe as part of your experience. Our friends at Topdeck provide SANZA teachers with a 10% discount when booking. It’s not too late to see what they have to offer from sailing trips in Turkey to La Tomatina festival in Valencia, Spain. Visit  for hundreds of European trips and further afield.

Here's to a great summer.
