Traveling Europe - Hidden Treasures

Whilst living in the UK to work, it’s the ideal opportunity to explore Europe. With flights provided by budget airlines from as little as £30 you’d be crazy not to jet of for weekends to explore the delights Europe can offer you.

Here at Sanza we have pulled together our favourite picks of undiscovered places to see and visit in Europe.


Bled, Slovenia

Bled has a variety of amazing places to visit and activities to try. Lake Bled and Vintgar Gorge host many different water activities, including water skiing, canoeing and much more. In the middle of Lake Bled there is a tear-shaped Island that has The Church of Assumption and a museum. To get to the Island you must get a traditional boat called a Pletna. Away from the Island there’s plenty to do including Bled Castle and Horse-drawn carriage tours. Just an hour away from Bled, Ljubljana is one of Europe’s best cities and has plenty of sites to see with great architecture in the churches, cathedrals, museums and even Tivoli City Park.


Douro Valley, Portugal

Love Wine? Why not visit The Douro Valley in Portugal? The picturesque landscape and great wine tasting is a great way of relaxing.



Plitvice lakes, Croatia

Croatia’s must see attraction is The Plitvice Lakes National Park which is located between the capital city of Zagreb and Zadar on the coast. There are 16 lakes in total, all interconnected by waterfalls. The National Park is 300 square kilometres and is populated by amazing wildlife.


Lake Brienz, Swiss Alps

Tucked away in the Swiss Alps, Lake Brienz is great place to visit is you need peace and tranquillity. With regular boat trips you can get around Lake Brienz all day.



Blue Grotto, Capri, Italy

Blue Grotto is a sea cave located in Capri, an island of southern Italy. The Blue Grotto cave goes 50 metres into the cliff. The only way to see this beautiful sight is via boat, no swimming is allowed! This is to preserve the clarity of the stunning water.



Portofino, Italy

Portofino in Italy is definitely a place to visit if you love soaking up the culture. There are many places to see in Portofino such as the Church of Saint Martin and the underwater statue of Christ of the Abyss.



Dinant, Belgium

Beer, Sax music and ziplines, it’s safe to say that Dinant in Belgium has a lot to offer. Grotte la Merveilleuse is definitely a must see!


Colmar in Alsace, France

If you like great architecture and a cultural experience visit Colmar in Alsace, France. The best way to see Colmar is by wandering through the streets, you’ll find amazing buildings, museums, plenty of history and even a Little Venice. For the hikers out there go to Gazon du Faing to get a great breath of fresh air!


Azores, Portugal

Kotor in Montenegro offers beautiful scenery along with amazing sites to see, from St Tryphon’s Cathedral to the Town Walls.
