What is the ITU Vitality World London Triathlon?

The ITU Vitality World Triathlon is one of the world’s leading triathlon events. The event attracts the world’s best athletes and thousands of recreational triathletes.

When is the Triathlon?

The event takes place in stages all over the world, but on May the 30th to 31st the race comes to London!

It’s a great day out in London, cheering on the competitors, and this year there will also be a Health & Wellbeing Expo Show.

The different types of races:

The races vary in length from the Tri It race, which is 400m swim, 15km bike and 2.5km run to Olympic standard, which is 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run. So there will a lot of people taking part with varying different levels of fitness.

Watch the professionals!

On the 31st the event is open to the world’s best triathletes. Their race is much longer than the previous day’s races. It consists of an Olympic level 1.5km swim, a 40km bike and 10km run. There will also be a relay team race, which will cover the same distance.

Where can you spectate?

The London Triathlon takes place across the iconic London landmarks, starting in Hyde Park and going past the London Eye, so you will be able to spectate from many different points in the city for FREE!

If you want tickets for the grandstand they cost £27.75 from adults, and £11 for children.

Can’t get to London? Why not set up a school triathlon?

Why not get the children involved by organising a school Triathlon? It is a great competitive sport, and doesn’t have to be the length that the professionals do, or even completed on the same day. It is a way of getting the children active by swimming, cycling and running.

You could also incorporate team building by getting the children into teams. The fastest group time will be the winner. Children will love the competitive aspect, especially if there is a prize involved.
