Special Needs Assistant

SEN Teaching Assistant - Year 1 (Autism Support)
Location: Ealing, West London
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: £95 per day
Hours: 8:15am - 4:15pm, Monday to Friday (with an earlier finish on Fridays)


A mainstream primary school in Ealing is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with Autism and challenging behaviour. The child is very energetic and requires a consistent, structured approach to help them engage positively with their learning.

This full-time role starts in September 2025 and offers an excellent opportunity to work as part of a dedicated team supporting pupils with additional needs in a mainstream setting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 classroom support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism and high energy levels

  • Support behaviour regulation using agreed strategies

  • Reinforce consistent expectations and boundaries

  • Collaborate with class teacher, SENCO, and other staff

  • Record and communicate progress and challenges as required


The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children with Autism (ASD) in a school setting

  • Be confident supporting pupils with lots of energy and occasional outbursts

  • Stay calm, patient, and consistent under pressure

  • Be firm but fair, with clear expectations and a positive approach

  • Work well within a team and be willing to follow agreed behaviour plans

  • Have a proactive mindset and strong communication skills
