SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support (KS1)
East London | Full Time | Monday to Friday | 8:30am - 4:00pm | Immediate Start - Dec 2026 | £95 - £105 per day
Introduction
SANZA Teaching Agency is recruiting a committed and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 1 pupil on a 1:1 basis at a welcoming primary school in East London.
This rewarding full-time role involves supporting a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who is making progress with their learning but requires consistent support to remain engaged due to high levels of movement throughout the school day. The school is seeking a resilient, proactive and nurturing individual who can commit to the role on a full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD
- Support learning activities within the classroom and wider school environment
- Assist the pupil to remain focused and engaged throughout the school day
- Use positive behaviour support strategies and consistent routines
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals
- Foster confidence, independence and social development
- Record observations and contribute to pupil progress discussions where required
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs
- A strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Calm, patient and resilient approach
- Ability to build positive relationships and establish clear boundaries
- Experience supporting pupils who require movement breaks and sensory regulation strategies is highly desirable
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Pay and Progression
£95 - £105 per day for the first 12 weeks.
The highest rate of £105 per day during the initial period is available to candidates with substantial SEN experience, previous 1:1 support experience, relevant SEND qualifications or a proven track record supporting pupils with ASD.
Following 12 weeks in post, pay will increase in line with the school's scale and established arrangements for long-term support staff.
