SEN Class Teacher - Maternity Cover

Camden, North London | Fixed-Term Contract | EYFS & Key Stage 1

Are you a passionate SEN Teacher who loves helping young children discover their potential?

SANZA Teaching Agency is delighted to be working with a specialist school in Camden that is looking to appoint an outstanding SEN Class Teacher for on a maternity cover contract.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work with a small group of just 7 pupils aged 4-7 (Reception to Year 2), supporting their early learning, communication, independence and social development.

The school is looking for a warm, enthusiastic and creative teacher who can make learning exciting, build trusting relationships and provide the specialist support that young children with Autism need to flourish.

The Role:

  • Take responsibility for teaching and learning within a small class of 7 pupils.
  • Deliver engaging, play-based and highly differentiated learning experiences.
  • Support early communication, language, social interaction and independence.
  • Use specialist communication systems such as Makaton and aided language boards.
  • Adapt learning to meet the individual needs and developmental stages of each child.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, parents and the wider school team.
  • Create a positive, nurturing and stimulating classroom environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has experience teaching children with Autism and additional learning needs.
  • Understands early childhood development and the EYFS/KS1 curriculum.
  • Has experience or knowledge of Makaton, PECS or other alternative communication approaches.
  • Is creative, patient, nurturing and passionate about SEN education.
  • Can build strong relationships with parents and colleagues.
