Introduction

SANZA Teaching Agency is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Reception-aged pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at a welcoming infant and nursery school in Barnet.

Role Summary

You will provide dedicated support for a pupil with ASD in Reception, helping them access learning, develop communication and social skills, and engage positively with classroom routines. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and wider support team to ensure consistent and effective support throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD.
  • Support learning, engagement and social interaction within the Reception classroom.
  • Encourage independence and positive behaviour.
  • Implement guidance from the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Assist with observations and feedback on pupil progress.
  • Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly ASD, is desirable.
  • Understanding of Early Years or primary school settings.
  • Calm, patient and caring approach.
  • Ability to establish positive routines, clear boundaries and consistent expectations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Pay and Progression

This role offers £95 to £110 per day, dependent on experience and suitability.
The highest rate of £110 per day is typically available to candidates with significant SEND experience, a strong understanding of autism support strategies, experience working within Early Years settings, and the confidence to work proactively with minimal supervision.
